Word shuts down everytime I open it.

Can you assist me? I cannot open word 2003 xp. Actually, I can open it, but
if I do anything like click on file or even try to open outlook- it tries to
open a new word document over and over. I dont have nortin anti virus. I have
tried to open winword.exe/a and it didn't work. I believe that a file is
corrupt. How do I change the name of a file- normal.dot for example. Please
explain exactly how I can do this. I really appreciate this.

To begin with "winword.exe/a" will never work; there must be a space before
the forward slash. Go back to
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProbsOpeningWord.htm and try again.

Great! That opened it, but it still doesn't work any other way. I really
appreciate any advice. How do I change the normal.doc?
