My copy of Microsoft Word 2003 often shuts down unannounced and in a
seemingly random fashion while it is in use. It doesn't shutdown immediately
upon opening, nor does the shutting down appear to be linked to any
particular document (like maybe it was a corrupt file). No error message
appears....my document(s) simply disappear like the mist no apparent rhyme
nor reason, leaving me alone with my thoughts.
I wish it wouldn't do that.
It seems to happen most commonly when I switch from having Word in the
foreground to having some other program in the foreground, then switch back
again to Word (ex. while editing a Word document I open Firefox to check an
email, when I click back on my open Word document the entire Word progam
suddenly closes).
I am running Microsoft Office 2003 on a Windows 2000 (SP 4) machine. The
computer is inherited so I'm not sure how long its been having this problem -
it's been at least one month though. Does anyone have any ideas re: possible
fixes?
