Word shuts down when I try to type?

I just downloaded Internet Explorer 7. Afterward, I can open Word and I
have mouse functionality, yet, when I try to type, even in the help line,
Word immediate gets an error and shuts down. Why is this happening?

i had the same problem after installing IE7. it's related to a corrupt
keycode for Word. i deleted the regkey and now all is good.
