Word Signature Error

When i try to open Word, it gives an signature error
message and immediately closes. I have run all virus scans
and have reinstalled twice,(including all updated service
patches) but to no avail. All other applications are
working correctly and I can open up documents using Word
Pad, but not Microsoft Word. Any suggestions?
