To start Word with a new document based on a particular template, change the
shortcut to include the /t switch (details In Word Help under "customize how
Word starts" or search for startup switches).

Alternatively, you can place a shortcut to a Word template (or document, to
open that) on the desktop or Start menu and use that to start Word.

To change the directory that File > Open starts in use Tools > Options >
File Locations and modify the location for Documents.

For some unknown reason, every time I start Word, it opens to a specific
document. It happens to be a science project on Hitler. I have tried saving
and deleting it. I've uninstalled and reinstalled MS Office. I tried not
saving.
It opens with the name Doc1, which used to be BLANK! When I click on NEW,
guess what?....the SAME DARN HITLER opens up as Doc2, Doc3...etc.
HOW do I stop this??? I appreciate ANY help anyone can offer.
Thanks in advance!
