Word Starting on Page 2 When New Document Opens

Everytime I open my Word for Mac, the document automatically begins on page
two. Does anyone know how to make Word begin on page 1 again?

Dear [whoever],

You have told Word to include a page break in the Normal template. It's
easily undone. :)

You don't mention the version you're using, but if it's Word 2004 go to
[your hard disc name]/Users/[your user name]/Documents/Microsoft User Data
folder. You'll see the Normal template there. Double click to open it. Key
Command-Option-n to go into Normal view.

You'll see a page break in there; place the insertion point in front of it
and hit the Forward Delete key.

Remove any other formatting in there that you don't want.

Save.

Quit Word.

Open Word. When you create a blank new document it will comprise only the
one page.

* SUGGESTION -- KEEP REVISITING AFTER YOU POST: If you post a question, keep
re-visiting the newsgroup for several days after the first response comes
in. Sometimes it takes a few responses before the best or complete solution
is provided; sometimes you'll be asked for further information. Good tips
about getting the best out of posting are at

blank page and have to hit the circular arrow icon -- "Reload the current
page" -- two or more times).

Try deleting the Normal template completely:

First try the contents. Do as before, but do command-A to select
everything, then delete and save.

If that doesn't work, delete the Normal template file from within
Finder.

Quit Word first. Better to just rename it, though--that will keep Word
from finding it and force it to create a new one. Normal saves a lot of
customizations someone might want.

More about Normal here--that's clearly where the problem lies:
