When Word starts a box appears warning that "a compile error in hidden
module. main module." I need to locate this and fix it if I can. Word has
performed erratically since this error box has appeared. Does anyone know
how to fix this?

Here is a possible solution to your problem if you currently have StuffIt
program on your computer.

"You have a few options in this case:

1) If you do not use the OfficeReady Stuffit features in any of the
programs:

- Go to Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs->Stuffit Deluxe
- Click on Change/Remove->Modify
- In the Modify screen, uncheck OfficeReadyStuffit and click next:

2) If you do not use the features in Word but use them in Excel or Outlook:

- Uninstall the Stuffit Deluxe program
- Reinstall the program and when asked about installation of OfficeReady
Stuffit features, only check the 1 or 2 options that you want, then proceed
normally."

I searched everywhere for a solution to the same problem on my computer. I
also got other error messages or warnings when opening/closing Word and
Excel on occassion (not all appearing at the same time). Word and Excel
also were opening slower and slower. When I did the above (#1) solution
(got from a "Cody" at another help site), it APPEARS to have fixed my
problem. I do not compact my files, so this solution has not presented a
problem to me. I hope that this helps.

I had the same problem, it's so complex a problem I've uninstalled the whole
package and am using a simular package. It seemed to happen to me after I
installed the update from Microsoft Web.
