Word stopped responding mid compilation of a document

B

Bryan

I have just been compiling a word document. After about 40 mins, as i
attempted to `scroll down` the document, i got the obligatory `hour glass`
that stayed and the error message `not responding`. It is critical that i
`recover` the partially compiled document. In the `settings` auto save is
ticked, so i assume that somewhere there is an `auto saved` copy of the
document. Any help on retrieving my partially compiled document ASAP would be
GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Thanks

If the document is "Not Responding," then terminating Word using Windows
Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del) will constitute an abnormal shutdown, and when
you restart Word, the AutoRecovery backup will be presented.

If Word crashes and the autosave recovery information is checked then if
there is a valid recovery file, Word will recover the document when it is
restarted. If it doesn't do so, the chances of recovery are slim. Word
stores its recovery files at %appdata%\Microsoft\Word - enter this line in
the address bar of your browser.
