Word stops allowing me to save

Hi everyone!

I spend A LOT of time in MS Word and save my documents often...after a
few hours, I'll get a message stating I can no longer save as "too
many documents are open" when I only have 1-2 windows open...I have to
quit out of the entire program and reboot Word before I can proceed
with my work...

Is this common w/ MS Word X? How can I fix it? I've already turned off
AutoSave, which seems to help elongate the time until I get that fated
message.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Jodi,

It's the Disk Full Error. Word creates a temporary file in order to let
users Undo multiple actions, and when too many temp files build up, it wigs
out. It's a bug. You can prevent it by closing and reopening your doc
every so often--closing wipes out the temp files. Or a more sophisticated
solution, that will let you save your work when the error occurs, can be
found here.

(won't work in Safari)

The supposed "autoSave" function is called and acts as an AutoRecover, and
only kicks in in time of crashes. For more info, see here:

Written for WinWord, but the same principles apply. I'd say it's worth have
AutoRecover on.
