Word Stops responding on close and crashes

I have seen a few close scenarios reporting similar problems. I think I have
been able to narrow this down to problem addins I have installed. Overall I
can work in word saving, retrieving and editing docs but it’s painful to see
this message come up every time I close word. I recently installed an addin
from salesforce.com which started this whole mess. I have since uninstalled
the addin by using add remove programs but word still loads the template
addins. From the addin manager I can see the addin still active as a template
and the path to the sforce.dotx in the word startup folder but they don't
exist. I have searched the registry for these entries as well with nothing. I
try to remove or disable these templates from the addin manager but word
crashes every time. I also tried renaming normal.dot and normal.dotm with the
same results. I can however load winword.exe -a without any addins loaded and
it works fine. So my questions are, has anyone else had problems removing
addins? Where are the instructions for word to load these addins? I can't
find any configuration reference files or registry entry. Below is the
application event log

Terry, thanks for responding so quickly. I've never really had much luck with
these forums. I've looked at both your links and the HP Driver problem posted
on other threads. all though at first sight I also thought this to be a close
match problems others were experiencing with HP print drivers the module
being reported as fails is the MSO.DLL. not too mentioned I don't have any HP
printers installed. I have found the path for STARTUP which is were the
templates seem to be loading but the files don't exist which is why I don't
understand were they are getting instructions to load from.

When I try to remove the addin/COM WORD crashes with the same error.

I appreciate the response

Are you sure that you have Show Hidden Files & Folders enabled and View
System Files enabled in Windows Explorer? If not, enable those settings and
then check for add-ins in the Word and Office Startup folders.

Are you able to start Word in Safe Mode and close without errors? From
Start, Run, type in

winword /a

and press enter. Now open any document and then close Word. What happens.
