Word "style" and font - unrequested changes

Dear Peoples,
I have XP Pro with SP3 and all updates along with Office XP and all updates.
Whenever I "copy" a section from (say) an Outlook Express document and paste
it into a Word document the text changes from normal to bold and vice versa.
It is also noticed that when copying at least three quarters of a page the
font will change from (say) Arial to Times New Roman without warning or
prompt.
These faults are exceedingly annoying - solution(s) please, thank you.

Your software is old and unsupported, so if it is a bug it will not be
fixed. You may try using "Paste Special" as a work around.
