Could you be more explicit about what "this" and "work" mean? What task
is it that you are trying to accomplish?
To put it another way, what do you *expect* the tab key to do? Properly,
it should insert a "tab character". If you have selected a paragraph, it
should delete that paragraph and replace it with a tab character. If you
set the preferences to show all characters you will see the tab
character (it shows as an arrow). If the upcoming tab stop is set to use
underline as a leader character, the tab character will indeed show
underlines for its entire length. Therefore, it sounds so far as if Word
might be behaving correctly. m.
