Word take a long time to load and close

Recently, MS Word 2002 has been taking anywhere from 15 to 30 seconds to
load. Previously, it loaded almost instantaneously (Pent 4 w/ almost 1gb
memory). When I close Word, it takes about as long to close and I get a
progress bar with the message "saving Normal." I have reinstalled Word as
well as deleted Normal. I have also done a Detect and Repair. All updates
have been loaded from the MS web site. Does anyone have any other
suggestions. I can live with the lengthy load and close times, I'm just
concerned about anything that changes the way my computer behaves. Thank

Slow load and close of applications is generally an indication of the need
to defragment the hard drive. But a total cleanup won't hurt at all:

continue Word troubleshooting after normal.dot (you did step 3...)
