Word taking 20 minutes to bold a single word.

OS: Windows 2000
Machine: Dell Optiplex GX240 (Pleanty fast to not be the
issue.)
Office: XP SP2

This only seems to happen on a particular file (a file
that is better traveled than I am). The file consists
mostly of tables and text with small logos and is only 72
pages long. File takes up over 130 megs of hard drive
space. Even running the file on the local machine, it
will take no less than 15-20 minutes just to bold a single
word. You highlight the word and click on the B bold
button and the system hangs long term. Any ideas?

Hi Mike,

If the file has a lot of tables then updating
can be an issue, but the file may be damaged.

Try saving the file under a new name and also
try saving it as a Web Page from Word, close Word
and then open each of the new files and save as
a .DOC and see if you get any improvement.
