Can anyone tell me where the temporary file created when you open a
document in Word is stored on the Mac and how to find it? On the PC
it's easy - you get a hidden file in the same folder as the original
file but the first two characters of the filename are changed to ~$.
I have tried searching the Mac for all new files (with Word open and a
file open for editing) but I can't find the temp file (even thought I
did work out how to search for hidden files).
I have a specific need to recover text from a file that was being
edited when Word crashed. What I want to do is find the temp file that
was in use when Word crashed and extract the text from it if possible.
My hope is that as Word did not close gracefully, the temp file will
still be on the disk...
Any help much appreciated
