word template

we want to create a word template which encloses our logo and company adress
on the first page and just the logo on following pages. other users must NOT
be allowed to make any changes in this template. we managed to do so by
securing the document but that resulted in limitations in word functions
like: track document changes, serial letter, etc.

is there a solution where the logo and adress are fixed but all word
functions still available?

many thanks

There is no way to totally prevent this but if you create an image, in high
quality, of the header for the first and second pages and insert them into
the header spaces for the first and second pages that will prevent
alteration of the logo and text. Of course they could still remove the
image from the header.

thanks for your reply. we used this solution and actually protected it with
the document protection to prevent the logo from being removed.
unfortunattely the protection leads to function limitation as described
earlier.

like a hardcopy pre-printed letterhead, we want a digital version where all
functions stay as usual but the logo placement and adres must be fix. i still
hope a solution exists.

many thanks and greetings

Hi Koor,

Based on my knowledge, there is no such built-in feature that can achieve
this goal. However, you can try macros or using code to check if this can
be done. I would suggest you submit your post in MSDN newsgroups, as they
are best suited to help you with this dev-related issue. You can go to
"Office Solutions Development ->Word ->word.vba.general" on the following
web page to reach the newsgroup.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.asp

If you are a managed MSDN customer, you can also submit your question in
"microsoft.public.office.developer.vba" newsgroup. For more information,
please visit the following link:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/newsgroups/managed/

I hope this information is helpful in getting started and we invite you to
post again with any specific break/fix issues.

Regards,

Ada Pan
