You can prevent templates from being modified by password
protecting them before saving. When creating the template
click....
Tools | Options | Save: and mark modify box at the bottom
with your password.
Preventing deletion is another issue entirely. If you save
your templates to a network, anyone having read and write
permissions can save or delete files there. You can limit
catastrophes by providing read only permissions to those
authorized to modify templates. The other is to always be
sure that you back up your important files and templates
to a floppy, CD, or other media.
