Word to PDF File cannot be read by others

I have Word 2007 documents saved as 97-2003 and then printed to pdf.
I can read the pdf but others have problems reading.
It is either "jibberish" or pages are cut off.
I didn't use the built in pdf converter. I did print/pdf.
Acrobat version is professional 8.0

This is very frusrating because I do not see any problems with the converted
document.

Any suggestions?

Are you sure that the "other" people have Acrobat or Acrobat Reader
installed, so that they can actually read the PDFs?

Have you asked in an Adobe forum if there are any known issues with the
display of PDF files?

How are you sending the files to others, by the way? Email? Or are you all
on the same network?

Just sending via email. This from my home pc.
I'll go to adobe website and forums to check.
Thank you very much.

Since you are sending the files as attachments, this might be an issue of
the files getting corrupt when sent. Have you tried zipping the files (that
is, sending them as compressed ZIP files)?

This is what I would recommend. I'm not sure what happens, but I have had
PDF documents of a certain type that were invariably received by a specific
recipient damaged until I started zipping them before sending.

Yes this is what I just rec'd from the Adobe Acrobat forum:
There is a known problem (now you will know) that some/many email programs
use the wrong coding on pdf files

The first few characters of the file "look" like text, so the email program
uses text encoding to prepare the file to be sent over the 'net

A pdf is not text... so the file is garbled when it is received

Solution is to ZIP the file before sending

Thank you very much!

What's odd to me is that I can send the exact same PDF to someone else
(usually the same mail client and account) who receives it with no problems.

Do you still have the URL for the Acrobat forum you used? The only forum I've
used often takes days or even weeks to come back with a response -- which
usually ends up being bogus.

Thanks.
