Word to PDF spacing between letters

I use PDFMaker 5.0 as an add-in to Word 2000, to
convert .doc files to PDF.

I often find that the spacing between letters is set
incorrectly in the PDF. The last word in this sentence is
an exa mple.

The font is Times New Roman or Arial. Does anyone know
what might be causing this phenom enon?

Martinique, thank you for your answer. I assume
that "download" in this case is the same as "embed"...is
this correct?

I'll try embedding all fonts and see what happens. Thanks
