Word: Tool bar not active

Brand: Mac OS X version 10.2.1
Memory: 512 mb
Processor: 1 GHz Power PCG4

My Word 2001 crashed and now as I open my word files the tool bar is
not active-when i click onto them it does not respond- the only one
that responds is the Font and that is greyed out so it is not active
as well- I cannot even close out my word and need to Force Quit this
program. Please help! Thanks
