Word trouble with index

Hello,

why has every version of Word I tried on my Word created document
problems with the index? I tried Word 2000, XP and 2003.
I can set index entries but when I regenerate the index ist's completely
messed up! Every time it contains entries with only the page numbers and
mostly the same page numbers all over! Why?

When I open this document with Open Office 2 or with Textmaker 2006 they
can regenerate that index fine!

=> when will a fix for this clearly WS Word bug appear? Or anything to
correct this? Instead of changing the UI they should correct such
fundamental bugs first - esp. when they're to be found in EVERY version
since Word 2000.
