Word trys to re-install on its own

When I load Word uisng XP Home,the "Preparing To Install"
message window pops up for a second, then disappears/
Word then loads, very slowly! Any clues why? I am not
trying to re-install anything and the Word CD is not in a
drive. Thanks.
