Word underline position

Problem:

When converting Wordperfect doc into Office 2000 (Word)
doc, the underline looks OK on screen, but the print-out
position is within the text, not under the text. This
occurs with 3 kinds of the printers. It looks like it is
not an printer driver issue, but a conversion issue
between Word Perfect and Word 2000.

Help is appreciated!

The Microsoft WP converter was last designed for WP version 5.x or 6.x
documents. Have you tried saving the WP document as a 6x document and then
converting?
