Word "unexpectedly quits" on launch

FYI those who offered advice on my problem of a few days ago. The only
solution turned out to be a reformatting of the HD. Since it was a new
drive and just been formatted at a shop, this wasn't a big deal. This
time I loaded only Word and a few of the Office tools, such as
spellchecker. Everything seems fine now. No clue what the issue was.
None of the suggestions on this newsgroup or the Web sites provided worked.
