Word Unexpectedly Quits

I purchased Office:mac v. X 2 years ago with Powerbook G4. Word keeps quitting unexpectedly. I would like to install new Office Update; however am unsure if I can with this problem. If I could find another program I would. I need some informatio
about what do and also whether I should update to the current office program.
