Word using wrong language for new projects

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

Word works in English (US) until I go to create a new document from template.

The templates all populate in Latin? Not sure of the language, but it ain't english.

Please help.

What you're seeing in the documents generated from templates has nothing to
do with the Language of the document :)

The text boxes in those files are populated with what is called
"placeholder" text which is just a filler ued to indicate where content is
intended to go. The expectation is that you select & replace the placeholder
content with your own... For that matter, you can delete the entire box &
replace it with something else if you wish.

It's "dog Latin", a mangled version of one of Cicero's philosophical
writings...

It is used in the publishing industry as placeholder text because it has an
even distribution of letters similar to the distribution in real text, so
when it justifies in proportional fonts the width of the text will closely
match the width of the real text.
