Word v.X unexpectedly quits

D

Dan Henderson

Ever since I moved from a TiBook to a MacBook Pro, I can't get MS Word v.X to
successfully open. The splash screen appears, then the outline of the Project
Gallery window, but the Project Gallery is never populated and I get the
"...unexpectedly quit" message. Deleting and resintalling Office v.X,
applying the Office X 10.1.9 Update, discarding the Word Settings (10) file,
rebooting, and deleting the Normal template have all been no help. At one
point (I have no idea how), I got Word to open without partially opening the
Project Gallery first, and the document it opened was binary garbage. I
haven't been able to replicate that behavior after that one time.

Support for v.X has apparently expired:

Thanks in advance for any suggestions or clues.

Regards,

Dan

Hi Dan:

1) Make sure you have run the Office Remover tool to remove the Test Drive
version of Office 2004 completely. Deleting it won't work, you must use the
tool.

2) Make sure QuickTime is fully up to date.

3) Then look on the Apple site and execute their procedure for updating
your "prebinding"

4) If it still doesn't work, follow the steps here:

Cheers
