word version paradox

Hello,

I have recently upgraded our office computers from win98,
office97 to win xp pro and office xp.

now I got called down to the office as people were having
trouble with a word document that held all of our company
logos. When they open it some of the logos don't display a
picture but display a box with a red square.

I have opened the same document on a win2000\office 2000
computer and all the logos appear. I have also opened the
same document on a win98/office 97 computer and again you
can view the logos.

This happens on all of the 12 new computers.

Any ideas why this is happening. The document was
originally created in word97.

cheers,

neil

Neil,
I believe you have to save that graphic so XP recognizes
it then it will work. Probably just a new extension.
However, I have no idea how to do that. Maybe look in
help for importing graphics.

Yes, http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=291346 describes such a problem,
and work-arounds that make Word 2002 recognize the pictures.

Hi

Another possibility might be that some of your Word programs (or perhaps the
documents themselves cos I don't know if it is document specific) have
activated the following option

Tools, Options, Show, spaces for images (untick)

Perhaps my terminology isn't quite right cos my computer is in another
language but this option replaces images with just the box to load the doc
more quickly.
