Word Viewer while Word is present

I have Office 2003.

If I install the latest Word Viewer, will that cause me any problems with my
office suite?

A software package I wrote creates an RTF report and launches Word Viewer to
display the report and allow printing. Not all the users have Word, but they
can get Word Viewer for free.

I need Word Viewer to replicate their experience.

So, the question is: will installing that have any negative effect on my
office suite?

OK. In that case there will be a conflict of interest over the file
association. You will need to set which application you require to open RTF
files and ensure that the other does not grab it back again.
http://www.gmayor.com/Toolbars_in_word_2007.htm may help prevent Word
grabbing back the association.

Note that WordPad will open and print RTF files.

Thank you. I figured there would be a file association conflict. I hoped
there would not be any others. I can take away all file associations from
Word Viewer (except the new ones my version of Word does not know about)
since I launch it programatically with file name as a parameter.

Note that WordPad will open and print RTF files.

Yes, and I have used that before, but now I need something that understands
page breaks.

another approach would be to use a virtualization software (Microsoft
provides VirtualPC for free). You could then setup a virtual machine
with the OS of your choice and WordViewer without any Office applications.
