Word vX: Lost formatting when opening files

When I double-click on a Word document from the Finder, it
opens just fine in Word v.X (with SP-1). However, if I try
to open the same document from within Word, it opens
without the formatting applied, but with a list all the
formatting parameters appended after the text itself.
Occasionally there also appears to be snippets of other
files included in that formatting list as well. Is this a
problem with this version of Word, or am I missing a
preference setting that will solve the problem?

Hi George,

It is most likely the "sticky" Rich Text Format (RTF) setting at fault. Go
to the File> Open dialog and change the "Enable" setting to "All Office
Documents".
