We have had no problems using the Compare function in Word 2007 until today.
While doing the Compare with a group of files, they all worked except two and
an error message was received: "Word was unable to compare the documents" and
these files are no different than the others in the folder. We were able to
accomplish the compare by doing it in Word 2003 with no problem or errors but
cannot figure out why Word 2007 is unable to compare these files. There are
no protections and it didn't help to resave them to another location or as
docx. I did a search online for the error message and didn't get a single hit
for that specific error message; nothing at all on the Microsoft site either.
I'm unable to send the files because it is secure information but any ideas
on what the problem could be? The client is already convinced that our using
Office 2007 will create problems that will cost them money and time so this
is not going to help our case if a solution is not found.
