Word was unable to open the data source when connecting to SQL Exp

Hi!

I have the following problem and would be glad if someone could give me a
hint how do solve it.

I want to insert data from a Microsoft SQL Server Express database into a
Word document. To do that I make the following steps (I hope I get the menu
labels right, I don't have an English version of Word):

- Insert > Field > DATABASE > Insert Database...
- Import data... > Create new SQL Server data source
- Server name: .\SQLEXPRESS

The connection works. I can select a table and when I click on "Insert
data..." Word inserts the complete table into the document. But when I click
on "query options" and want to use a filter, I get the message "Word was
unable to open the data source", followed by (roughly translated) "Could not
finish procedure because a dialog or database module doesn't respond. Please
try again later."

Word also completely ignores any changes I make in the "select fields"
dialog - it always inserts all columns (of course only when I insert them
without filter as mentioned above).

I would be glad if anybody of you could help me fixing this problem.

Marvin
