A few weeks ago, I double clicked on a document to open
it in word, and it looked like it was starting up, when a
window popped up saying "microsoft word for windows has
encountered a problem and needs to close." I have
uninstalled and reinstalled word, upgraded my anitvirus,
which runs at least once a week, and contacted Dell,
where the most they could help me was telling me to type
winword /a into Run. That opens Word, but didn't solve
the problem. i still could not just double-click on a
file and have it open. They were unable to help me
further than that and told me to contact Microsoft.
I have no clue as to what the problem is, but this is the
second time it has happened to me on this system. Last
time, I had to back up everything and reinstall Windows
XP. Any help is appreciated.
