word will not reload with original product key code

I run Windows 98 with Office 2000. Recently my word application was disabled
(if I did it, I don't know how). When I click on Word, a window comes up to
install it and asks for the product code. I put in the original code that
came with my disk and it says that the code is not valid. Can anyone tell me
what to do about this?

Check whether two version or a trial versio of Office is
installed. If yes, remove the one that you dont use from
the Control Panel>Add/Remove programs.And then try
accessing your Office applications.
