I have encountered a problem with MS Word 2000 on a specific computer. It
is running Windows 98 second edition. The server is running Windows NT 4.0
with SP6 installed.
This computer has had several problems in the last two weeks. They have all
reported "invalid page fault in module MSo9.dll.
I have removed and reinstalled MS Office. I have tried repair all to no
avail.
It would not open documents from the server but would work from the hard
drive. Deleted the Data key from the Registry. and that took care of that.
Then it had a problem with would only open in "read mode" the operator had
the file locked for editing. Deleted all temp files (*.tmp, ~tmp.do?, etc)
and that stopped that problem.
When you ask to save, it thinks a while then returns with "invalid page
fault". WinWord does not close completely. Have to use Control Alt Delete
and end task.
All other programs in MS Office work great. Excel Publisher, Outlook, etc.
The operator can go to any other computer and use her profile and work under
normal conditions.
I am suspecting something in the Registry is out of sync regarding maybe
security with the network?
Anyone have any suggestions.
