word will only open as a minimized file

When I try to open Word, it opens up as a minimized file on the toolbar and I
can't get it to open. I share a computer with someone and when logging on to
his side of the computer Word opens up as it normally should. Does anyone
have any ideas as to how to fix this problem? I have Office Professional
2003 software with Windows XP operating system.

The document might be opening off-screen. Try this:
1. Open the file. It's okay if you can only see it on the taskbar.
2. Click on Tools | Options | View | uncheck the "Windows in taskbar" box.
3. Open a new blank document.
4. Click on Window | Arrange All.

I'm having the exact same problem. The entire Word program opens as a
minimized so there's no "tools" to access. I have Office 2003 for Small
Business and the XP Home system. Any other suggestions? I've sut down and
rebooted to no avail. Other suite products open fine.

Right click on a blank spot on the Windows taskbar and use
the cascade option to see if it pulls Word back. It may have
opened 'off screen'.
