Word window closes by itself

My Word window closes by itself while I am working on one or more docs, so i
have to "save" everything I type every minute, otherwise i could lose all the
work. Any ideas why Word closes automatically?

What version of Word is this? Have you installed all of the latest service
packs for it?

If so, Word's spontaneously closing often is related to registry or
normal.dot corruption. Take a look here for suggestions:

word 2003 still closes (win 2000) ive deleted the .dot file, 'data' entry in
registry and disabled norton systemworks option for office. word still closes
within minutes after opening. anything else to try?

Whenever I go to File in Word 2000 (e.g., to open a document), I get an error
message and Word closes. I have removed Office and then reloaded it, but the
same thing happens. Any ideas of what is happening???

What happens if you start Word in Safe mode? To start Word in Safe mode,
hold down the Ctrl key as Word is starting up, and keep it pressed until
Word shows up on Windows task bar. Say Yes to starting in Safe mode.

Does Word still close soon after opening?
