word without outlook

I just got a new laptop, and office 2007 home / studen. I want to be able to
create letters and send them directly from word. however my word07 send
E-mail is grayed out. Is there a way since I don't have outlook, or outlook
express now to send my mail through windows vista's default e-mail client?

My understanding is that the "Send to Mail Recipient" and "Send to Mail
Recipient As Attachment" features do not work in Office 2007 Home and
Student Edition no matter which email program you use. You can still
open your preferred email application, create an email, and attach a
Word file to the email.

I realize I can send through my client, is there a way to make word see my
e-mail client ( Windows mail ) and just through that as the default e-mail
program? it would be a lot easier to just write my letter, then click send
through word then open my e-mail and attach a file, or copy and paste to an
e-mail.. I only have 1 E-mail client ( Windows mail )
