WORD won;t save when Outlook is open

I am using Word XP (2002) - if I have Outlook open as well - if I try to
save a document - Word just shuts down without saving. If I reopen WORD
then the second time around I can save the document.

If I don't have Outlook open then this problem goes away.
I have noted that the problem occurs if Outlook uses the MS Word format for
mail format.

Thanks,

Try searching for email.dot and renaming it as email.bad. Does that resolve
the problem?

OK will look for it on the computer that this problem is on - hope it does
the trick - and let you know.

Yes I found email.dot and renamed it to EMAIL.bad - but that did not fix it.

It really is a weird problem.

But the really strange thing is after WORD shuts down after the first save
attempt. The next time i open and try to do a save it works.

If i close and reopen outlook the problem starts all over again.

Does it have anything to do with the NORMAL.dot file?

thanks in advance

No - I don't have Norton AV. Nor any other AV packages.

I am thinking of doing a REPAIR of the OFFICE package. Maybe that will tidy
things up.
