Word won't accept ANY pasted text.

Win XP Pro SP3

Every time I try to paste text into a docx (Word 2007) I get this warning (see
image <http://www.rcblue.com/Misc/Macros_Disabled.jpg>). Why do I need
enabled macros to copy and paste into Word? What do I need to do to enable
the pasting of text, say the text from a newspaper article online?

I get the warning, and the paste fails, no matter what I'm trying to paste.
I tested this by typing "Now is the time for good men.", then cutting it
(Ctrl+X) and trying to paste it back where it had been in an otherwise blank
docx; the paste failed and the same Visual Basic warning appeared.

What going on? I've tried enabling all macros in the Trust center, but no
change.
This version of Word so far is turning out to be pretty worthless to me.

Go to View | Macros and see if there is a macro listed named EditPaste. If
so, this has hijacked the built-in EditPaste command and is trying to run
when you use the keyboard shortcut or button for that command. If so, you
need to delete that macro.

Yes, EditPaste is on the list of macros, but I see no way to delete it. How to?

Are you sure you're looking at the list of macros and not the Word Commands?
If so, change the "Macros in" setting until you find the template or add-in
that contains the EditPaste macro. You may need to open (or attach) that
template or add-in explicitly in order to delete macros in it.

If you can't delete it from the Macros dialog box, the macro is in an
add-in. You need to move that add-in out of the Startup folder for Word.

To find out the path to the Startup folder, look in the File Locations
dialog box: Click the Office button, and then click Word Options. In the
Advanced category, click the File Locations button (near the bottom of the
category).

on this).

You could also take a look in the Add-Ins category of the Word Options
dialog box. In particular, see if there are any COM add-ins: In the "Manage"
box, choose "COM Add-Ins" and click Go.

At this point I'd like to ask if it would make sense to delete/uninstall
Office 2007 from my computer and reinstall it.

"All active templates and documents" is exactly what it says--all the macros
in all loaded documents and templates, so of course you will see it there.
"Word commands" is where I told you NOT to look. The relevant one is the
MathType add-in. You will need to take this problem up with Design Science
(www.dessci.com); most likely, you need to enable the macros in that add-in.

contained "MathType Commands 6 For Word.dotm", which I disabled by renaming
it MathType Commands 6 For Word.dotmm . Pasting now works, but I guess I have
to abandon any ability to use Word 2007 for math expressions. Or not?

my Word 2007 problems by removing Office 2007 and reinstalling it.

Uninstall - Reinstall rarely fixes anything.

No, because reinstalling would not remove any add-ins, and that's the source
of the problem. It also doesn't delete Normal.dotm or change the Registry or
your printer driver, and those three things are the other three common
sources of problems.
