Word won't let me change envelope defaults - Help, please?

John

Do you know a solution?

Each time I print an envelope, I have to reset the envelope print
orientation, retype my return address, and it's annoying.

In Word 97 and Word 2000, I would set these values and they would stay
as defaults.

How does one set the defaults in Word XP (2002)? I have tried TOOLS -
LETTERS AND MAILINGS - ENVELOPES AND LABELS - OPTIONS - and what I set
there keeps reverting to defaults (and the defaults are incorrect)!

I really would appreciate a solution to this annoying problem.

Thank you

J.

One solution is to set up a template that already includes the page size
and orientation, your return address, and margins ready for you to type
in the addressee.

That's what I ended up doing. When I had previous versions of Word, I
could set the env. orientation and the return address and they would
stay that way as defaults without my having to retype and re-orient them
each time. I liked it that way. I wonder if it is an oversight by Microsoft?

At any rate, thank you kindly for your response - I appreciate it.

I too find that the 'envelopes and labels' function isn't dependable.
As new features like electronic postage are added, the old functionality
seems to be abandoned.

Still, I can't help but wonder whether there's a way to get those
settings into normal.dot.
