Word won't open attachments

Jerry K

Greetings.

Hopefully this is an easy one. When I click on a Word attachment
received in a Eudora email, I will be transferred to Word, but to an
already open Word document. Word does not open the attached document
until I locate it manually and open it.

How can I get Word to automatically open the document when I click on
the attachment icon in Eudora?

Thanks.

Ask Eudora!

Seriously: Eudora needs to hand an attachment with the ".doc" extension over
to Microsoft Word. That means you need to configure Microsoft Word in
Eudora as the default application for .doc file format.

It's years since I last bothered with Eudora, but I suspect that the Help in
Eudora will tell you how to do this. Eudora was always pretty good at
customisation.

It may simply be that you need to re-install Eudora after installing
Microsoft Word. During installation, Eudora should find Word and add the
preference itself.

I'm not quite sure what's going on here though: it sounds as though Eudora
is activating Word, but not sending the file. What is your Macro Security
setting in Word? Which antivirus scanner are you using?

Word is unlikely to willingly open a file that your antivirus has not
checked: that's suicide, and it knows it.

Cheers
