word won't open files!

whenever i try to open any files that i have previously saved this message
appears:
"the file (filename) is not available"
i have not deleted anything. When i click to exit Word this message appears:
"the file normal already exists. Do you want to replace the existing file?"
If i click on Yes or No it then brings up the "save as" box. it is trying to
save it under "applications", "microsoft" then in "templates"
So i then click on cancel which results in this message:
"changes have been made that affect the global template, Normal. Do you want
to save those changes?"
On clicking no it finally lets me exit.
This has only just started happening.

Disable the Office Plug-in option in Norton Anti Virus.
