Word Won't Open Properly

When i select the Word icon, the yellow loading sign shows, but nothing else
happens. Word doesn't open, and i have to use the task manager to close it.
When i go into my folders, and select a word file, a message appears saying
that it does not recognise the file name. This started happening last night.
It was working fine yesterday afternoon.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

I have exactly the same problem and I couldn't find any solution. Even
reinstalling Office doesn't work.

It took me much time to find a normal.dotm file, but the best way to it was
looking at Options-> File locations in Word. I've changed the extension to
..old.

Now Word opens correctly! Thank you very much!
