Word won't open

Hi! I'm trying to open my microsoft word but when I click on it the following
message appears: This file does not a have a program associated with it for
performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations
control panel.

The last time I used word was three days ago, on Thursday. It worked great.

I also tried opening just the document I want and the following message
appeared:
C:\Users\Tabitha\Documents\English\Summary.docx
The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration
is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail.

If someone could help me that would be great!

Have you rebooted since the problem occurred? Before trying any remedial
action, I would try rebooting first. Occasionally, I see such problems
disappear after rebooting.

If you still have the problem after rebooting, I would try repairing Office
from Programs and Settings (or Programs and Features if you're using Vista).
