Word Won't Open

We are running Windows 2000. Each time we reinstall
MSWord, it works for a few days, then stops working, and
different error messages appear. Today, we
got "Winword.exe has generated errors and will be closed
by windows.Restart computer" Restarting the computer does
not fix the problem.

I am also told the same message came up when trying to
access other software, not related to Word, (i.e. Quark).
