WORD won't print Inserted Picture

Hello,

I have inserted bmp, gif, jpg, png as well as tif file
formats into a WORD document. They show fine on screen,
but they do not print well at all. I have tried inserting
the image as grey scale and in rgb thinking that may make
a difference...nope...it does not. The image has full tone
and shades of grey, but when printed out of WORD, it does
not print anything but the blackest areas of the original
file. I have tried to think what might be causing this
problem obviously. I thought it may be my printer as it is
about six years old. I do not think so because I tried
printing the same image through Adobe Photoshop and it
printed perfectly. Argh!!!!
So the printer seems to be functioning well. Another
part of this is, for example, I have taken a screen shot
of a portion of a HELP window from WORD. This screen shot
included the actual text of the help as well as graphics
that are part of the screen. I'm not sure I am explaining
myself well enough. The graphics I am speaking of are the
parts of my screen that are captured with the Print Screen
option, ie....the Start button at the bottom of the screen
as well as the tray at the bottom and anyopen applications
that are represented...long and short...I pasted this
screen capture into WORD and printed it. everything that
was not pure black did not print. Any shades other than
pure black do not print from WORD. By the way, I just
tested it one more time and the fact remains...All shades
of grey print through Photoshop but only black prints out
of WORD.

If anyone can lend a hand with some wisdom, please let me
know.

Thank you,
Eric
frustrated and kind of on a deadline with this.

Eric,
It might be as simple as the following.

When you click file, print ... make sure that the graphics or drawings box
is checked.

In Word 2002 (XP), there's an options button. Click it ... make sure, under
"include with document" that "drawing objects" is included.
