Word Wont Read Mouse

Hello to all,
I was using word and it was working perfectly, untill about 3-4 weeks ago.
At first when I double clicked on a file it wouldn't open the file. It would
just open Word and I would have to open the file through file.. open. Now, in
addition to that problem, Word does not allow me to select test or move the
cursor with my mours. The program reads the mouse, because it allows me to
select the shortcuts from the meny and it allows me to open and close the
document with the mouse, but for some reason it will not allow me to move the
cursor or select text with the mouse.

Please help, this makes is especially difficult to work.
Thank you.

Can you move around the document and edit it using the arrow keys? Or is the
document completely locked? If it is the former, this is usually a third
party add-in that you have installed that is incompatible with Word 2007.

Yes, I can move around and edit using the arrows and the keyboard, the only
thing the cursor wont respond to is the mouse.

There are several third party add-ins known to cause this problem. Have a
look in the Word Start-up folder ands see what templates are installed to
give you a clue. Remove them all and test. If it is OK, now replace one at a
time until you find the culprit.
