word work file d?

W

wow i'm a dog

i keep encountering this problem when working in word x. it seems to
happen when i am either: 1] changing a header/footer then trying to
save or 2] opening a file then renaming it and trying to save.

the application "unexpectedly quits" and a small document called "word
work file d (plus some numbers)" appears on my desktop. the next time
i go to open word, i get the message that changes to the normal
template were made and do i want to accept them? usually a
"recovered" document will appear.

i have done a search and found the post titled "help- word v.x
unexpectedly quits; not enough memory or diskspace" helpful. i receive
this error message, too.

any thoughts on what to do?

Hi Dog,

You didn't say what OS or version of Word X you're using <tsk tsk>. Do you
have Office/Word fully updated (10.1.2, 10.1.4 and 10.1.5 updaters)?

Also, try repairing disk permissions:

For OS 10.2.x or 10.3:
Go to Macintosh HD/Applications/Utilities. Open up Disk Utility. Select
your hard disk, then click the First Aid tab. Click the button to "Repair
Disk Permissions".

For OS 10.1.5:
Download the Repair Privileges utility, free from Apple, and run it:
