Word work file

Using Word 2003, I am receiving an error while trying to open larger files.
It says that I am working without a "Word work file". Most menu options are
removed and I am unable to save work and am forced to close Word. Most recent
activities include backing up my computer on a Western Digital external HD
using the sync provided on it. Other than that, I have opened a couple of
Word files from web sites that I trust.

The exact messages are: "You are working without a Word work file and memory
is nearly full. Save your work." I then click "OK" and receive this: "There
is not enough memory or disk space to complete the operation." It seems that
as long as I work with relatively small documents, I have no problems. The
file I am trying to open is something that I have routinely worked with in
the past and is 43KB with several graphics. What do I do?

Check under File Locations that you are still using your local HDD for you
document locations and that somehow you have set it to a Flash Drive that
you have been using at some time recently.

Also make sure that Windows is pointing to the correct Tamp file location in
your roaming profile.

I do not know how to do the things you said or what they mean. My computer
works, but so far it is only Word that gives me problems.

I did reset Office to its original settings, now I lost all my Outlook info
and hope there is a way to get back my contacts especially. I tried to "fix"
Office with the installation disk. I thought next, I might try to uninstall
Word and reinstall it.
